Lymphedema from the knee down to the foot

Postby joanne johnson » Thu Jan 17, 2008 12:49 am

I have lymphedema from my knees to my toes while some people have swelling of their entire leg. I have read where many people just have it from the knee down. Does anyone know why that seems to happen, where it just stops at the knee area and does not progress any further up the leg? It seems to be a "cut off" area. I am just curious

Hey Joanne :)

I would say that in these situations that the main lymphtic problem would be below the knee and that above the knee, the lymph system is still able to handle the load.

It all depends on the condition of the lymph system and the condition its in.

Hi Pat,
Thank you for your answer which makes complete sense. I am grateful that my entire legs are not involved. Things could always be bettet or worse. :)
