Hello to this lovely group
A short while ago I wrote asking for advice because I had a seeping wound. This was a first for me and I thought it would heal and be over with. I see a nurse every 2 days for bandaging and the wound finally was beginning to heal when sudddenly smaller wounds are coming out around it. The nurse wants to give me a letter for my doctor to have me checked for circulation problems. I live in mortal fear now that I will lose a limb ...I am doing everything I can and I don't know why this is happening. I so terrified that I am physically sick about this. cherie

Hi Cherie,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with the wound. Is the leg very swollen, and if yes, are you (or your nurse) doing compression bandaging? If not, the wounds may be resulting from excess lymph fluids or you may have, as your nurse suggested, a vascular issue. What type of dressing is your nurse using on the wounds? Dry? Wet? What did the first wound -- the one that is healing -- result from? Why do you have LE in your leg? Is it from surgery, injury, venous stasis or post-DVTs (clots), cardiac edema, cancer treatment, primary LE, etc?

It will be hard to help you without knowing all the details about your LE. If you like, you can email me the details privately at luvmaponds@yahoo.com and I will respond here unless you ask me not to.

Only after knowing all the facts about your leg and wounds can I make any kind of suggestion. Of course, I always recommend a follow up with a vascular specialist when a leg wound is involved.

I will be back on this evening so please respond when you can.
