Welcome Heidi :)

For some reason, I thought I answered your post, but it sure doesn't look like it. Geeeezzzzz...I'm too young for "old timer's disease." I have always heard that it is a double row of eyelashes, not two out of the same follicle. If it was the type associated with lymphedema, there would also be other symptoms.

These include leg lymphedema (swelling), and/or possible swelling of the arms and hands; abnormalities of the spine. BTW, in lymphedema distichiasis, they have also found (through lymphoscintigraphy) lympahtic abnormalities or maldevelopment. Other symptoms might include heart defects, cleft palate, ptosis (drooping eyelid)

We do have an info page on Lymphedema Distichiasis

http://www.lymphedemapeople.com/thesite ... hiasis.htm

Compare that page to this one on straight lymphedema and ptosis:

http://www.lymphedemapeople.com/wiki/do ... ema_ptosis

Hopefully that can provide some answers.

There is a condition where people do actually have extra eyelashes. I found a great page on Medscape/eMedicine:

Distichiasis
